List policy:

To make this list the best possible we have to have some rules about what can be discussed here and what cannot be discussed.

The SF-users is a mailing list for people who uses Sound Forge.
Everyone can (and hopefully will) contribute to the list.
I know from my experiences with the Logic-user list that Emagic only participates as long as the list policy is kept a bit strictly.
Lets hope Sonic Foundry will do the same in a while.

First on the content of messages sent to the list.

- PLEASE send mail about the list itself (how it is run, why isn't there a Newsgroup, etc etc) NOT to the list, but ONLY to the list owner:
- Commercial postings are not allowed.
        - I will however allow info about new products like plug-ins etc. that are related to Sound Forge, but then in an informativ way, not a commercial one.
        - However do send links to related sites.
- Please try to keep (unavoidable) discussions on Mac vs PC to a _real_ minimum. In other words: NO flame wars please!
- If you have to compare other products (like Wavelab, Cool edit etc..) to Sound Forge try to keep it in a nice tone.
- Please try to limit humo(u)r to just a few of these per month. Many people, me included, like the occasional funny/sarcastic mail, but it should really be occasional.
- Don't mail private messages to the list
- Don't send attachments (they will only bounce to me)
- Don't use HTML formatting in your mail to the list

- DO send "Tips & Tricks" on using Sound Forge!
- DO respond to questions about the same software
- I feel soundcards can be discussed here, too.
- PLEASE DO use meaningful Subject headers in your mail!
- Please notice what the subject of a post is about. Don't change subject in the body of the post without changing the subject of the header of the post.
- ex.: "Hissremoving (was: removing hum)" is a good way of doing it.

- To make meaningful subjects easy I have decided to use these acronyms:
line

ADMIN: = Administrative (list-related) messages
Q: = Question
TIP: = Tip! (I'd like a LOT of these myself :-)
WISH: = A Wish, Logic related of course
HLP! = Help me please!
:-) = Joke/funny post
OT: = Off Topic (example: microphones, monitor speakers)
WOT: = Way Off Topic (example: cars)
RE: = Please use RE: when you are answering posts
(if you use a different language than english - please correct whatever you use to RE:

About my policy:

I have to be rather strict, since I manage this from home with a dial-in account.
Downloading huge numbers of bouncing email costs me money, which is why I try to keep that number within reasonable limits.
For you Americans: calling locally is NOT free here in Norway.

Hope this makes it clear. Feel free to discuss this policy with me by private mail.

If these "Laws" is not respected I can and will unsubscribe people from the list.
Let's hope that Sonic Foundry will like the way I manage the list good enough so that they may want to contribute to the list in the future.
